Love of food - The Food Dot

A friend told me that she has bought a voucher from a deal website to support Chef John and i had the privilege to enjoy this hi-tea buffet :)
Located along the shophouses of Race Course road, walking distance from the Little India station.

I didnt know that there is this little cafe hidden along the street but i was glad i was able to enjoy the food & the company of my friend :)
It is a cafe that also has a cooking studio behind and classes are held for those who are interested.

The buffet came in long tray that spreads across my table and they served a pineapple tea for the day, the colours are very appetizing and totally pretty to look at :) I tried everyone of them and most of them are awesome but there is some with either too weird for me or i just have no preference. Maybe i need to be more sweet-tooth.... ;p
The decor in the shop is a little too much for me but it is really compact :) at least i get to see what are the things in the shop within a glance around the shop.

Separated the food due to it being because the bottom one is not included in the buffet but was Ala-carte that we decided to try. Their COFFEE is really 1 that you cant miss. AWESOME! At about $4.50 a cup (they do not charge GST/Service Charge!) I drank the first mouth of latte and i was like WOAH... Price wise, they are pretty affordable too for the food and i tried the savory food after much cakes... The chicken shepherd pie is good too at about $5plus...

Service there is good as it is a small cafe, waitresses are friendly and thoughtful :) It is very cosy to hang out on a lazy Saturday afternoon but do note that they close at about 5pm on weekends.

Collagen :) - Milcolla

Been watching TW channels and they have been sort of raving about this. Well, i know i am slow but it's not easy to try to get it via TW because they are only available online and only send to address in TW~! (so that it's cheaper)

But anyways, I finally decide not to wait till i got an address in TW, instead I bought from the ex-gmarket which is now the Qoo10...I paid $6 for the courier (not by choice because that is the only selection) But yes, delivery was prompt because I received it in 2days. Nicely packed and with a Sweet Thank You note.

Taste wise: It is good, i added into my coffee and i think because of the milky taste, my coffee taste sort of nicer now given its 3in1. I only tried it for 2days as of now, so i am not able to comment whether how good it is for my skin... :)

I had ordered 2packs, so it's about 1month supply. :p Will see how it is 1month later and comment :)

But the taste/smell wise, i would say i like it because at least what i heard from my friends are that collagen always smell/taste abit not that good. If you like milky stuff, i think it be good :)

Tea Tree - Body Shop

 

This is introduced by my brother... I never think i will try it until he told me that it's good and i should try it for myself. I bought 6bottles at 1go and i didnt regret it.

I've used for about 2 months plus.... It used to be, that my forehead has alot of little pop ups that feels kinda oily, they are not like pimples but it is just there and i really dont like it. ;( But after using this facial wash, all of them just simply never appear anymore. I am so impressed!!

This is the portion of 1pump :) 

And i need not use alot, just 1pump at a time. I only wash my face with facial foam once a day because for me, morning i only need water to wash. But when i want more bubbles, i will pump 2times instead... It has a little bit of tingling feeling probably it's really clearing up the face. ;p

Tea tree oil has antiseptic functions, i guess that's why the product feels abit stingy/tingling... check out the benefits of tea tree :)

The other smaller bottle is the tea tree oil which i use it on the random pimples that appear on my face. (nightmare) It takes like 2days or so to get rid, so i am quite happy with the results. :) They are not too expensive as well so if you have a chance, grab it, TRY it! but the way the bottle dispense is a lil irritating as the droplets will often roll off my fingers... so i suggest using cotton buds :)

*Pregnancy Woes*

Am not pregnant....This post is about what I observed from others' pregnancy.

Morning Sickness:
If it's just really occurring in the morning, I guess this is okay but when the vomiting starts from Morning to night (that includes waking up to throw up). I think this is very stressful to the 'mother-to-be'. Especially when the nutrients didn't get to go down to the mum's body because they are just simply throwing up what they ate.
For those with gastric, please watch out even more because throwing up is a bad process on the gastric and it might make the gastric pains worsen...
Even to the extent of throwing up too much and fainted as a result. (so try not to leave them alone at home when they are throwing up badly because they will need someone to at least watch out for them)
Drips is 1 of the solution but who would want to go down to the hospital to drip half the time.
let mum-to-be try whatever food/snacks they can because at least they will know what are things that they can take. Satisfy the craving if any.

Depression:
When pregnant woman with such bad experience with their pregnancy, it's easy for them to incur negative thoughts, when they go to extreme that they say things that they don't normally do, keep a lookout. That point in time could be the lowest point of their life.
Try to keep them company and not let them be alone for more than few hours because they can really imagine the worst. Because in their mind, NO ONE can understand them, NO ONE went through the same thing as them and they are NOT the ones Suffering. This will further shut them off to the rest of the world.
They cant control what they mind is thinking. They will feel guilty,bad,upset, unhappy about everything.
At this point in time, Family support is really needed. Some times a little action goes a long way, because you never know the little things you helped in, actually helped the mum-to-be out of something bad. Husbands, PATIENCE is badly needed other than just support. Because things can really get quite bad when the wife is not thinking straight anymore.

Seek help as soon as you realise something is not right, do not be afraid to admit that you are not thinking straight anymore, share the feelings, cry it out if needed. The earlier you try

Body Contours - near City Hall

Back to Facial time :) This time is the poke poke,pain pain one :p Although looking at the name above, it feels as though this is a slimming centre...

This one had called me for some 'free trial' (as usual) Wonder how they always manage to get my contact!

Anyway i went to try and they were persuading me to try this treatment and Pay Extra for my eyes, i often wonder why EYE and FACE treatment dont come together when it's like all on 1 face! not as though the eyes is way far away from the face.

Anyway i did, because i have got pretty bad dark eye circles (probably going to tan myself will be a better idea so that it's not so obvious) So i decided that if it's not very expensive, i should just allow myself to go ahead even though i already have treatment somewhere else. :)
It was pretty ok, but yea, PAIN because it's the poking and squeezing process, face will be redder from normal. And it's really TEARING process for me because i really think that my skin is so THIN la! So every poke is like WAHHHHH... And i feel that although there's no scarring up till now, but my skin has got those dots with darker colours on my face.

Service was good and price wise, it's consider much more affordable than my other facial. And is also much easier to make appointment compared to the other one as well...
For here, i also have a fixed lady who does the facial for me and so it's easier for you to relate and for them to notice any difference in your skin compared to previous session.

For me, i only go there about 3times a year just for a 'clean-up' or when i feel that it's time to go...

They also do have massage, Chiro services as well if i didnt remember wrongly.
And the tea they serve quite nice! I enjoy a small cup whenever i'm done with facial, it's really quite good.

My only complain is the walk there from the station, for myself, i would really prefer a location whereby once i exit from the train station i can easily see it. probably like right across the road.

St Regis (SG) Staycation

This hotel is under SPG(Starwood Preferred Guest) Cat 6. So yup, you can tell that it's a 5star hotel at least ;p
So if you are going there, probably you can sign up for SPG member since it's Free and you can accummulate your spendings into points (note: counted in USD, so SGD will be converted accordingly)

Was there for my birthday last year 2012, so my comments are as of last year ;)

ROOM:
Room was really good. I took the Lady Astor room, and it was Wonderful choice. They did up the room as per request, though abit simple but it's the thought that counts.
They also have a butler attached so i saw 3butlers in total at different timings, Russian, Japanese and 1more i cant quite remember. ;p
The room is big and spacious, 2beds ok! They also serve unlimited tea as long as you want them.

I also had my bubble bath after my friends left, so Happy.... And it was also done by the butler who came up at an agreed timing so that my water wouldnt turn cold. :) Yes, even at midnight, they also will come up and prepare the bath for you... HA.. so feel free to call them since they are round the clock...SERVICE FULL MARKS!!!!!

 

Was given a birthday cake by them :) It's a nice surprise and so sweet of them right?
And it was sent up to me by the Russian butler! I like him! Cake was good, i had to bring home because i had a cake already, so this one i left in the fridge and ate them the next day.
It's very nice ;p



They also have a pool whereby it's not very interesting for me. Kinda limited with not much view, but for a relax swim, it's kinda nice... :)

Breakfast wise, i was there at the so call 'wrong time' because their breakfast restaurant was under reno, so we were placed in a ballroom to eat. For the price we paid, the breakfast isnt worth it on that day, not too sure if its the same at the restaurant and the ballroom but unless your room comes with breakfast, if not, suggest dine out since it's near Orchard Road, just take a walk out and probably nicer food is out there waiting for you ;)

Hair Inn -AMK

Maybe because I choose to do on a not so busy day to dye my hair.there are 2people helping me do so that time is saved. Tea is served, think nowadays most hair salon does serve drinks.

I started around 7.25pm so let's see what time I can end.

This is the first time I am colouring my hair at a dresser, highlight I have done few times at salon and done colour several times DIY so this is the first time I am getting others to do for me.

My length of hair falls under the price of $81, for dye & cut.

I chose INOA think it's spelt something like that which is not smelly at all (because I simply don't like ammonia smell) but no smell meant additional $50.which I guess was worthwhile because now I can happily type as they do my hair without the Choking smell.

Staff wise, bit rough,pull me here there everywhere but hopefully with all the pulling and pain the colour will be even and thorough.

After which 1of them helped to cut my hair and she gave me alot of advice of my hair type so that I do not make my hair disaster especially after I specially dyed my hair. So i didnt managed to change my hairstyle alot, only cut my fringe and bit of the length.

I ended my session at around 9, so i am still quite impressed :)

Love of Food - The Green Bar (Millenia Walk)

TBG got 2 outlets, 1 at Raffles Place, the other one at Millenia Walk but only the latter serves Brunch on weekends whereas the R.P one only serves Salads :) I got to eat the salads most of the time and so I used the weekends to try the brunch they serve on Sundays normally.
Brought my friend over together to try out together. I took the pancakes because i want to see the mini-cup of whip cream and my friend chose the BIG BOSS something like that to eat.
It's Superb, it's really nice. It's also very filling.
My friend enjoyed it alot and mentions that the BACON really got Meat because most of the time the bacon that we have always is the oily bacon that is cripsy but this is really soft.

Price wise, it is consider quite affordable given the portions that they serve, crowd wise, it can be quite quiet so people, if you guys want to get together for a chat, this is a nice place.
But waiting time wise, i guess, you gotta be bit more patient as they cook upon ordering so please be prepared :) Staff there are friendly too!

Definitely worth a try! Do pop by when you have a chance :)

Tower Club - Ba Xian

  

This place is very nice with quite a view because it's quite high floor. But it's only open to those who has certain membership to access this restaurant (am not trying to show off but just trying to ensure that readers don't get disappointed) because I myself can't book this place either.
So yes, using the privileges that my boss has, we managed to get to this place for CNY lunch.

This is the Menu that we chose for this year :) Service wasnt too bad, food flow was also quite fast... The Lou Hei look so cute!!! This is the only lou hei that is displayed like that. i didnt take alot of photos because i was busy admiring and eating the food. :p

Costa Victoria

Had a chance to be on board of this cruise :) Everything is in USD, so sometimes you got to calculate before you really start to spend.

As compared to Star Cruise, the room & toilet is seemingly smaller when i compare their BALCONY Cabin. Everything is a 1-step away sort of feeling, at 1time only 1person can walk around the area. Oh well, i dont really spend alot of time in the cabin, so just as well...

I linked my room card to my Credit Card so that it's easier to make payment via this machine that is made available. Saves the time when settling bill too.



Food wise, it wasnt too bad, but the food is sort of repeated for the few days unless you visit other restaurants. And i am kind of impressed that you get to choose to eat elsewhere without paying as i am without credit :p I must watch out for my spending so i will be concerned if i need to pay.

 

There is also a GALA night whereby most of the people are being dressed up. This is held in a more classy restaurant whereby every cabin is already pre given a Table No and timing to abide by. Food served there are pretty good and I enjoyed most of them alot.

Activity wise, it's normal with indoor pool, outdoor pool, table tennis etc... Indoor pool is more of for soaking yourself in water to enjoy the 'heat' but the water is way too hot for me until i had to escape off to the outside one.

Casino is not my cup of tea and the casino there is really very small and sort of limited to me, everyone can walk past there including those under 18 but those under 18/21 cant stay there to watch, they will be asked to go ASAP. (Weird, i suppose if they want to be safe it's best to keep them out but it's a Common Walkway, people cant help but stop their footsteps.                                               Every night, they do have daily performances and this is one that is Highly Recommended if you have a chance and if they do print it on their 'TODAY' As it will be issued only at night for you to know about next day's activity :) The show is really good!!!!!

This is one of the Tender Boats that i took to go to Malacca as they do not have a proper port, we can only hop on to the small tender boat to go on shore. As i was feeling kind of bored, i decided that i go out alone to have some access to WIFI and as well as have a walk because i have somehow finished exploring the ship, so it's time for walking/shopping/massage. The tender boat will stop off at a little pier and we will walk to the nearby shopping centre which is about a 5-8min walk. :) I spend most of my RM there but i was kinda satisfied and after the foot massage, i really slept very well, which i guess partly because i didnt sleep well past few nights. so after the massage i felt so good and relaxed that i slept like a baby even though i had coffee in the afternoon. ;p

Staff on board were nice people and their service is pretty good. :) I will miss some of them!!!

Love of Food - Poulet (Part2)

And yes, I am back to eat here gain :)
Been meaning to try every single of their mains actually, so this time i came with my girl friend to eat and catch-up for the year 2013 first meet-up.
So this time, 2mains, 2 dessert! :)

The duck leg was good but not very filling for me. Flavour and softness of the meat is really up to standard. My friend tried the new flavour of the chicken - cant quite remember what was the name of the dish but i know it has got cranberry sauce.
Not for me because i am not the 'sour' person so it tasted ok.

Dessert wise: This time i had the Panna Cotta (something like that) & banana bread pudding.
I LOVE the banana bread pudding :) Maybe the other one taste abit weird to me, so i didnt quite like it. but to each his own :p

 

BJ 101

Now is for my scalp/hair :)
After a round of face and body, now is the time for HAIR :)
(now everyone knows where my hard-earned money went!!!!!)

I used to have this super bad habit of scratching my head/hair whenever i feel tense or stressed up. So yea, my scalp is never at its peak due to the constant strain i put on it.

So I decided to do a random walk in when I pass by BJ101. Did a scalp analysis for my scalp and my oh my!! My scalp is sort of clogged by the excess oil causing my hair not to grow so well and it's not healthy. My hair ends are also not receiving its nutrients. (Upset for a girl to hear of all these)

Treatment:

So i decided to sign up for their treatment which includes a mask and tonic+massage (1st stage). Which was pretty helpful because i gradually realise that i itch less often and i can feel the hair gets thicker. After which i upgraded my tonic to some serum which is better and it has this cooling feeling whenever they help me apply on it. Their massage skills varies but up till now i still do feel ok with most of them. My oily scalp has improved over the time and sometimes i really i love my hair better already :p

Service:

Whenever i go in, i would be served a cup of hot tea and a hot towel as well, biscuit is as per request i think :) Because sometimes i rush over from work hence got to skip dinner if i want to be on time. :) And they are very prompt to refill for you whenever the tea runs out.
They also tries to chat with you if you are willing and some of them can be quite funny.
Sometimes there might be chance that there will be some waiting time needed to Queue to wash hair as at 1time only 3can wash( at the outlet i am at) but they might have over 10customers in there taking turns hence their time control sometimes is sort of tested.

Price:
As they always say, things are always rising in price. Everything will be more expensive year by year... So yea, the price i got my package is like about 2years ago... By now, i think already increased. My time was already around $2k plus for me as i couldnt afford a full treatment so i took up half the package... Given they use herbs and stuff, i think it cant go any cheaper :p

The service they provide is good and i like them. I continued a few more packages with them subsequently too. :) I even asked my colleague to go with me and she too, signed up with them and we really feel so comfy there whenever they massage sometimes we even fall asleep too :)
But for the package you sign up to have good results, you will have to follow a good diet and good timely rest as well in order for the results to be even better.
It's both internal & external :)

Love of food- Kkongdon Korean BBQ

Been passing by this place quite a lot.so guess I was just too tempted to give it a try because I like BBQ stuff. Ha
Hence finally I went.Ordered their beef,pork and Chicken for variety. Ordered a Set A and a boneless chicken set. We even put garlic on the pan to fry it a'lil before putting the meat on it which i thought was pretty interesting and it smells better than the 1st round we tried to cook without the garlic... Though i was abit disappointed that they replaced the Steam Egg to some cold tofu soup looking thingy that i totally didnt enjoy. :( the way the BBQ plate was placed is slanted so that the oil will flow down to the drain covered with a plastic bag so that it's easier to remove and throw away. :)
Rest of the food is wow, TASTY!
nice.though the portion could have been slightly more for the meat (but no restaurants give more meat so it's still not so bad.) The chicken is so soft and yummy!!
Their Ginseng Chicken soup is nice I like it a lot but I never tried an authentic version from Korea before hence my nice is as per my taste standard not as compared to original and the rice inside the soup is full of flavour as well. They also have a few side dishes eg: kimchi &some other veges which is free flow but i am not a fan of those so i tried very little of it.
We were pretty much full after the whole dinner.ha
Overall, service was ok and the staff were quite prompt in taking orders and helping to clear the plates. :) I didnt smell so strongly as compared to when i visit a food court :) So that is a plus point too!

Would go back again!! Next round I wanna try other parts of the meat that they offer!
